Mr G. Yule presented the prizes to the winners and congratulated them on their successful season and also thanked the entertainers for their services. Supper was served by the ladies and a very enjoyable evening came to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.’ The annual report stated:—The A and B grade inter-club shields have been carried off by the Masterton Club as was also the Pragnell Shield which we have had the honour of holding for the past five years. The Masterton Club showed definitely superior marksmanship and we must congratulate them on their meritorious performances. We must also congratulate Mr B. Williams and Mr D. Flynn on tying for the Association Cup held last year by Mr C. Bain. The club entered a team in all the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association competitions but we did not strike the form displayed last year and consequently we lost the Rhen-West Cup (N.Z.M.R.A. Aggregate), and the Le Brun Cup held by C. Bain last year. One pleasing feature of ihe season’s activities was the remarkable number of lower grade shooters who made considerable improvement. Several members of the club competed al the Wairarapa Miniature Rifle Association meeting where Messrs A. Bain, L. Hodder and M. Hodder succeeded in reaching the final ten. Our team occupied second position to Brooklyn on this occasion. In the New Zealand Championships competition (Match 2), Mr C. M. Bain was second with 100 and 2 extra bulls, the same score as the winner, losing on the graduated gauge. Mr M. Hodder and Joe Bain were in the minor money with a 99 each. The club held its first Saturday afternoon shoot during the season, the main attraction being the Hardie Handicap Cup won by Mrs D. Fenwick. Everyone spent an enjoyable day and with the experience gained we hope to make our future efforts in this direction still more enjoyable. The club conducted friendly shoots with the Legion of Frontiersmen of Masterton and with the Riverbank (Lower Hutt Club) which were verymuch appreciated by our visitors. Fin ancially the club has had a fairly hard season owing to supplies of English ammunition not being available and thus having to use expensive foreign makes. The club is very fortunate this year to receive a new challenge cup to be known as the Hector Donald Memorial Cup and members greatly appreciate the generous action of Miss Bessie Donald, although we feel sure that no trophy is necessary to keep evergreen the memory of the late Hector Donald to those who knew him. The committee wishes to thank the senior officers, the ladies and everyone who has helped to make the season successful and enjoyable.
