COSY THEATRE
‘•THE SCRAPPER." Commencing tonight the Cosy Theatre will present an outstanding programme. First there is the eagerlyawaited serial, "The Lone Ranger," beyond question the finest item of this nature the screen has known. This serial will be shown at night performances in addition to the matinees. Containing all requisites that make memorable entertainment, “The Scrapper" is a great human drama. The cast is studded with outstanding screen names headed by the talented and popular Mickey Rooney. "The Scrapper" is a rustic drama of a shell-shocked veteran, decorated in the war for valour but a nobody in the town of Greenfield, and his young spirited son, Shockey, considered an outcast by his school mates because he “lives on the other side of the tracks." The war veteran is capably played by Edward Pawley, an experienced stage star who is seen in his initial dramatic role. Frank Shields as Jack Matthew Junr., a wealthy playboy, is also one of Hollywood’s coming screen actors. Anne Nagel enacts the part of the young school teacher. The real star of the film, is young Mickey Rooney who is, of course, “The Scrapper.” The plot is fast-moving and full of thrills, with a clever blending of drama, pathos and comedy. “My Wife’s Relatives” is the story of a typical neighbourhood. Joe Higgins, played by James Lucille, works for a candy company. He is fired because of. the antics of his wife and children and before all is straightened out, many hilarious situations are witnessed. Lucille Gleason is seen as Mrs Higgins with Russel Gleason cast as their son, Sid. Mary Hart plays Jean Higgins and Arthur Henry is her boy friend, Bill Ellis. Harry Evans is Grandpa, Tommy Ryan is Tommy Higgins, with many other stellar names also in the cast.
