TWO GREAT ACTORS
RETURNING TO THE STAGE. Paul Muni and Paul Robeson, the great negro actor, who are acknowledged to be two or the greatest actors in the world, are returning to Broadway after an absence of seven years. This news has created great excitement among stage-lovers, and their reappearance on Broadway is being hailed as the greatest theatrical event in years. Robeson has been the idol of London for the last seven years, but Muni has not been on the stage in all that time. His last play was Elmer Rice’s “Counsellor at Law,” in which he scored a sensational success. The movies then claimed him, and he has been in Hollywood ever since. But now he has found a play he would like to do, and he will star in Maxwell Anderson’s “Key Largo” in the fall. This is a play dealing with modern political problems and using as the central character an American volunteer in the Spanish Loyalist Army who returns home.
