Mrs Neal Irwin, who has been spending a holiday at Paraparaumu Beach, has returned to Masterton. Mrs Hiddeleston is staying with her daughter, Mrs F. Reynolds, The Terrace, Lansdowne. Mrs A. T. Thompson and Miss Diana Thompson, Upper Plain, are spending a week’s holiday in Dunedin. Miss Elsie Dofiald. Masterton representative of the Royal Life Saving Society, has been granted permission by the Borough Council to use the borough swimming baths for the purpose of teaching swimming. At St. Clair Presbyterian Church, Dunedin, last night, Mr J. M. Taylor, ex-Otago and New Zealand representative footballer, was married to Miss Nancv Martin McPhail, St. Kilda, Dunedin." Mr C. K. Saxton, another All Black, was best man. The future home of Mr and Mrs Taylor will be in Wellington. The death occurred last week at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Donald Banks, at Takahue, North Auckland, of Mrs M. J. Swan, a former resident of Pahiatua. Mrs Swan left her home in Tipperary, Ireland, with her sister and brother in her 20th year. She took up teaching in Wellington, 'where she married, her husband dying in Timaru 49 years ago, and leaving her with a young family, the youngest being under two years. She again took up teaching, subsequently buying a farm at Kaitawa, where fox' some years she managed her farm and taught school. She was appointed the first teacher at Kaitawa. During the 1914 war she sold her farm and retired with her daughters to live in Dannevirke. On the marriage of her daughter to Mr Donald Banks, she resided with them first at Hastings, then at Takahue, North Auckland. Mrs Gleeson, of Pahiatua, is a daughter.
