TWO ENEMY MACHINES SHOT DOWN OFF BRITISH NORTH-EAST COAST. ONE AIRMAN RESCUED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.35 a.m.) LONDON, October 17. The Air Ministry announces that after earlier reported enemy activity off the East Coast the Royal Air Force observed two enemy aircraft off the North-East Coast, attacked and shot them down, both falling into the sea. One member of an enemy crew was rescued. Our planes returned safely.
