DISCOLOURED HANDS
HOUSE GLOVES HELP. Discoloured hands will require a slightly different treatment. Often the redpess is caused through bad circulation or through wearing gloves which are too tight. Either of these causes suggest their own remey, i.e., either improve the circulation or change your gloves. When the redness is caused by housework the following simple treatment will correct it. Always remember that after the hands have been in warm water, at any time during the day. they should immediately be rinsed in cold water, and a little cold cream should then be massaged well into the skin. If this simple treatment is always carried out the hands will never become red, chapped, or rough. When you are dusting or carrying out any grubby work, always wear a pair of house gloves. This will prevent the skin from becoming grimed. When the skin has become heavy, sallow, or in any way discoloured, you can make it white again by mixing enough lemon juice and salt together to form a thin paste, and then applying a little of the paste at night to the hands. Allow it to remain on the skin for a few minutes. Then rinse it away with cold water, smear a little glycerine and rosewater or honey and almond cream into the skin, and allow it to remain on all night.
