BLIND INSTITUTE BAND
CONCERT TOMORROW NIGHT. The Blind Institute Band and concert party will give one their brilliant concerts in the Municipal Hall tomorrow night commencing at eight o’clock. The object of the concert is a most deserving one and that fact together with the excellence of the programme should ensure a packed house. The items are of a varied Character, being both musical and vocal. Among the performers will be Allan Morton, twice New Zealand cornet champion, while the dance band will also contribute. Sketches and humorous items and “Peter, the non-musical representative of the Institute,” will be included in the programme. Referring to a recent concert the “Opotiki News” stated: “The theatre was packed with a large and enthusiastic audience. All present were greatly impressed by the versatility of the various members of the band who proved themselves gifted artists in the varied items of the programme. The atmosphere of cheerfulness and happiness displayed by the entertainers throughout the evening was a factor which also impressed the audience, many of whom expressed their enthusiasm by further donations at the conclusion of the programme.” Among the items at the concert tomorrow will be xylophone solos by R. Gherardi, pianoforte solos by Julian Lee and Robert Martin, songs by Frank Robinson, humorous sketches by F. Robinson and R. Gherardi, cornet solos by Allan Morton, piano -accordeon solos by Tumai Tarawa and Joseph Papesch. All the performers are blind. A concert is to be given by the band at Wairarapa College tomorrow afternoon. -.
