FEATHERSTON

* BLIND INSTITUTE ENJOYABLE BAND CONCERT. (“Times-Age" Special.) The concert given in the Town Hall on Saturday night by members of the Blind Institute Band was a brilliant success. The hall was full, the audience greatly appreciating the programme provided. The music supplied by the band was of a very high standard and thoroughly enjoyed, while the items given by R. Gherardi, F. Robinson, G. Papesch and A. Morton were outstanding for their excellence. On Saturday night the Blind Institute dance held in the Anzac Hall was a very enjoyable one. There was a large attendance and the takings at the door amounted to over £3O. The Blind Institute provided its own orchestra which played excellent music. - PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR. The bazaar held in the Town Hall by the Presbyterian Church was very successful from every point of view. The stall-holders were as follow: — Produce: Miss Donald, Mesdames H. S. Burt, S. Benton, Dean, Burt and Hodder. i A. Meat: Mr S. Benton. Cakes: Mesdames Bruce Donald, G. Yule, Tutbury, Misses Jean and Flora Donald and Grace Yule. Sweets: Misses Yule and M. Hayes. Flowers: Mrs Arch Clark. Work: Mesdames Keenan, Hunter, Spooner, Misses Goodrick, Chisholm and Tutbury. Toys: Miss Jean Tutbury. Mystery parcels: Mrs Sandy Burt. Tea rooms: Mesdames Carlyon, Joe and Charlie Buck, Hayes. Misses Joan Hunter, Thelma Shirey and Winifred Tidswell. Welcome Rain. After a spell of over three weeks of dry weather splendid rain fell throughout the South Wairarapa during the weekend. Personal. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday of Allan James Thurston, son of Mi’ and Mrs D. M. Thurston, of Featherston, at the age of three months.
