P. & A. SOCIETY
MEETING AT CARTERTON FINAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHOW. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society before the annual show was held in the P. and A. Board Room this morning. Mr J. A. McLeod (vice -president) presided over an attendance of 35 members. The treasurer (Mr Geo Brown) submitted the financial statement as follows: —Balance at Bank of New Zealand, £413 2s lOd: P.O. Savings Bank. £565 17s 4d. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £166. The Boy Scouts are to be asked to help the Dog Show steward. The question of sheep for the sheep dog trials was left to Mr G. E. Allen to arrange. The secretary reported that entries for the show were coming in very freely and that they would be well up to last year’s number. Draught horses, he said, would be belter and Lincolns and Shorthorn cattle would show an increase in numbers.
Replies to invitations sent to Ministers of the Crown were received, all slating that, if possible, they would be , present at the show. The following have positions as judges: Clydesdale horses, R. , D. Knight. Dannevirke; hacks, R. J. ' McDonald, Dannevirke; Lincolns, P. .] Southey, Marton; dairy cattle, J. P. 1 Kalaugher, Auckland; pigs, H. E. ’ Thurston, Kopane. The judge for the Corriedales was left to the secretary ” to arrange. The tender of Mr F. C. Yule, of the G Taratahi Hotel, was accepted for the booth privilege. The Masterton College Pipe Band wrote agreeing to supply music at the 1 annual show; They will be asked to head the grand parade on the second day of the show. 2 Replies were received from the Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown,i Masterton and Carterton Borough 3 Councils notifying that they would j close their offices on the second day of . the show. It was resolved that invitations be extended to 150 children from the Petone State School to attend the _ show. The children will be met by a t member of the committee upon arrit val at the show gates and the usual 2 facilities will be afforded them. z A donation from W. K. Morton, Sil- ; verhope. Marton, was accepted with 2 thanks. f The Wellington City Mission wrote ; thanking the association for the use of ■ the showgrounds for the Girls' Camp I at Christmas time. ; The Royal Agricultural Society of ( New Zealand wrote asking for assis- ] tance in increased production of food-1 n stuffs for the maintenance of the fight-I Hing forces and the industrial front. Agreed' to. Several new members were elected. Final arrangments were made for the show. >
