An attempt to raid the Tyne area was disclosed by the German airmen picked up in the North Sea by a Danish ship. They admitted that they were part of a squadron of eighteen planes which attempted to bomb the Tyne. The airmen added that three British aircraft engaged their plane, which was shot down near Tyneside. They then advised a Danish ship of their predicament.
