CENTRAL SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. SATISFACTORY DANCE SEASON. The monthly meeting of the Committee of the Central School vzas held last night, Mr J. E. MeV Calwell presiding. There was also present Messrs W. R. Nicol. C. J. Braggins, F. A. Wesney. A. I. Gibbs. G. R. Beecroft, A. V. Dixon, and J H. Cole An apology for absence was received from Mr Newman The finance report was submitted and received. The chairman reported that he had in conjunction with Mr Nicol granted the use of the Assembly Hall to the Kuripuni Tennis Club for the ensuing season, on the same terms as last year. Their action was confirmed. The Knox Church trustees applied for a rebate of rent as arranged when the Assembly Hall was granted to be used for Sunday school purposes. Left in the hands of the chairman and secretary to adjust. The Education Board advised that nominations were invited to fill the vacancy on the Education Board caused by the resignation of Mr W. H. Jackson. The matter was left in the hands of Messrs J. E. Calwell and W. R. Nicol and the headmaster, with power to act. Mi- Coddingtcn reported that the Parents' Association had experienced a very satisfactory dance season realising a very considerable amount which will prove of much benefit to the children. Congratualtions were extended to the Association for the excellent results achieved and the committee complimented the members of the Association upon the energetic work and enthusiasm which produced such good results. The headmaster submitted a satisfactory report of the attendances at the school showing the roll numbers as follows: —Main school. 531, average 504.4, percentage 95. East side school, roll 82, average 79.4. percentage 95. The committee considered that this was an extraordinary attendance and extremely satisfactory. The headmaster intimated that it was proposed by the East School Par-; ents’ Association to hold a bazaar on October 28.

Messrs A. Newman, W. R. Nicol and A. I. Gibbs were appointed visiting members for the month.
