GOLF SEASON CLOSING TO TAKE PLACE TOMORROW. ("Times-Age” Special.) The closing day of the local Golf Club takes place tomorrow. Personal Items. Mrs Mclntyre, Wellington, is staying with her sister. Nirs Fred Busch. Mrs F. Bird is visiting relatives in Martinborough. Mrs Cowan and Miss T. Piripi are visiting Feilding. Mrs Gilbert Sutherland. Masterton, was the guest of Mr and Mrs D. S. Sutherland over the weekend. Elders Handy and Brown are visiting members of their church in this district. Mr R. McDougall is to enter a private hospital in Wellington for treatment. Mr and Mrs W. Hodges, Wellington, were visitors here over the weekend. The death occurred during the week in a private hospital in Martinborough of Mrs Ruth Simmonds, a well-known and highly esteemed resident of this district, after a ilong and painful illness. The deceased, who was of a quiet and unassuming nature, was highly respected by those who knew her. She and her daughters came from England at the end of the Great War and had resided in this district practically the whole period since. She is survived by two married daughters, Mrs T. Mclntyre (Wellington) and Mrs Fred Busch (Pirinoa) to whom the sympathy of the residents of the district are tendered. The funeral took place at Martinborough on Wednesday. the Rev Mr Ball officiating at the church and graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs Frank and W. Busch. S. Sutton. G. Thomas, H. McMaster and R. Soughton. Miss Luke, who has been appointed to the teaching staff of the Upper Hutt School, will leave here at the end of the month. Mr Dick Te Whaiti has been appointed second assistant at the local cheese factory. Whitebait Catch. A large catch of groper and other species of fish have been caught off the beach at the Lake Ferry during the past week. Whitebait are also being netted in fairly large quantities.
