FEATHERSTON
MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL LAND FOR WATER SUPPLY PURPOSES. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor, Mr J. W. Card, presiding. The council decided to take, under the provisions of the Public Works Aset, an area of two roods for water supply purposes, the land in question being portion of the creek bed and the well site for the borough supply. As it was found, when inquiries had been made in respect to the raising of a water loan of £3200 that the specified term of 35 years was too long for investors, it was recided to request the Local Government Loans Board to reduce the term to 20 years. Mr H. A. Truman, district health inspector, was appointed building inspector for the borough. An application was received from the Cosy Theatre to install, an inch water pipe for emergency fire fighting purposes. The request was agreed to. BOY SCOUTS EUCHRE PARTY. At the Boy Scouts’ euchfe party held at the residence of Mrs Saunders the prizes were won as follows: Ladies. Mrs Leslie 1, Mrs Charles 2; men, Mr Cook 1, Mrs Lynch 2. The prizes were anonymously donated. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SPECIAL PRIZES DONATED. The Featherston Horticultural Society has been offered special prizes for their show in the following classes:— Miniature garden and champion rose. Mrs Wilkinson and Miss Una Carter, Wellington, are to act as judges for the cooking section, Mrs Bennett (Wellington) in the decorative classes and Mr Male (Masterton) in the sweet pea and rose divisions.
