RAILWAY SMASH
GOODS TRAIN DERAILED SOUTH OF DUNEDIN. EXPRESS TRAFFIC DELAYED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. This Day. A serious railway accident occurred yesterday evening between Clarendon and Waihola. about 30 miles south of Dunedin, when a Clinton-Dunedin goods train, with GO vehicles, was derailed. Twenty-six vehicles in all left the rails, and several capsized and were badly damaged. The track was also badly damaged for 300 yards. It is unlikely that a clearance will be affected until late this afternoon. ' Passengers and luggage on the north and south expresses were transferred by buses between Waihola and Milton. and the north express left Dunedin 45 minutes behind schedule. The cause, of the accident is as yet unknown.
