The delegation from Finland, headed by Dr Paaskivi, the Finnish minister 1 to Sweden, arrived in Moscow last, night.. Helsinki reports that the public are anxiously waiting to learn the Soviet demands, but a Moscow message says there is no reference to these yet from official sources. Preparations for all eventualities are being pushed ahead in Finland. The evacuation of Helsinki and the other frontier towns is being completed today. Barricades are being erected on the roads to the frontier, lieports are still coming in of concentrations of liussian troops near the border, but these are not confirmed. There are no signs of panic among the Finnish public. The Washington correspondent of the United Press learns that Sweden, Norway, and Finland have suggested to the United States joint overtures to linssia against immoderate dealings with Finland. The Finnish Foreign Minister, Al. Brkko, will broadcast to America tomorrow begging the United States to intervene and stay Russia’s hand., The Finns are bewildered• by the rapid march of events and are clinging to a desperate hope that Scandinavian and American interests may act as a brake on the Soviet’s ambitions, a Helsinki message comments. The newspapers express deep appreciation of Britain’s attitude, but active assistance from Britain is not expected. The 'Washington correspondent of the American Associated Press says that the Uniteci States is prepared to throw her diplomatic weight into an effort to preserve peace in the Baltic, but the officials want to wait further word from Moscow. Apparently the Russian demands are not yet known.
