BEAUTY FOR HANDS

SIMPLE TREATMENTS. The most abused, neglected, and ofttimes least beautiful part of the body is the hands. Washing-up, scrubbing floors, tapping typewriters, measuring materials behind a counter —at all times of the day our hands are in constant use, and it is not to be wondered at that sometimes we are just a trifle ashamed of them. And really they would be rather nice hands if they were not so frequently neglected. Spend a few minutes daily on a few simple treatments and precautions, and you will soon discover that your hands will no longer notify the world that you are a busy person instead of a lady of leisure. Naturally you cannot expect transformation by the end of a. week, but after a very short period you will certainly notice a decided improvement. The main sufferer from ruined hands is the housewife. Whenever she reads beauty articles on the care of the hands she usually shrugs her shoulders, smiles to herself, and thinks that she would have to procure the services- of a maid to do the housework. This is not the case at all, and is really only an easy reason with which she consoles herself, so that she can continue with her neglect. No matter how busy you may be. you can spare a few minutes nightly to remoVe the traces of the day’s work, and to prepare the hands for the morrow. If the skin is rather rough and hardened, mix a little powdered pumicestone into a thin paste with olive oil. This paste should then be spread over the hands and lightly massaged into the skin. Then it should be carefully removed, and the skin again lightlj massaged, this time with tissue cream. Start the massage movement at the tips of the fingers and work gently but firmly towards the wrist. Massage the knuckles with a circular movement, and see that plenty of cream is used. Allow the cream to remain on all night This treatment will not only help preserve the skin and keep it in a soft and supple condition, but will also prevent the knuckles from spreading and becoming too large.
