Miss Alison Cordery, of Christchurch, won second place of eight finalists in the aria contest ip the MelI bourne Town Hall, conducted by the “Sun” newspaper in conjunction with the South Street competitions in Ballarat. The winner was Miss Mavis Webster, of Bendigo. Miss Cordery gained 179 points out of 200.
