“Evon in the United States politicians must follow where the people lead,” said Mr K. H. Melvin, speaking at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club. A recent popular vote, he said, had shown that more than 60 per cent of the people were in favour of the Allied cause. This was reflected in the decline of power of the isolationists, and the move to repeal the arms embargo, an action which would be overwhelmingly in favour of Great Britain and France.
