LAMB COMPETITION

DISTRICT CONTEST BEING HELD. ARRANGEMENTS FOR WAIRARAPA DISPLAY. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ 'Board now advises that the district lamb competition is to be continued as far as local judging is concerned but that the lambs will not be forwarded to London—for judging there. The board had previously stated that the entire competition had been cancelled. This means that the Wairarapa district competition will be held, as had been arranged, at the Waingawa Works on Tuesday, November 7. ’ Entries will close on Friday, November 3. The usual prizes will be offered for judging in the pens and on the hooks. As the ten pens (30 lambs) selected, in each district will not be shipped to England, their disposal will be left to the A. and P. Association in the same way as the remaining entries. The board’s challenge shield for the best district display of lambs will not be awarded nor the cash prizes for the best individual lots in each Island. The board will issue diplomas for presentation to the owners of each of the best ten pens selected to represent their district’s entry and a grant of £lO will be made to the controlling A. and P. Association for the latter to allocate as prize money in the competition in its district as it thinks best.
