During the last 12 months Auckland’s urban and suburban population has increased by 4500, and is now estimated at 223,750. Of this total, 107,300 is accounted for by the city, while the largest individual borough total is that of Mount Albert, which is now about 20,900. Mount Eden, 19,450. is third. The most densely populated borough is Newmarket, which has an average of more than 17 persons to the acre.
