SPRAY OF BULLETS
AN UNEXPLAINED INCIDENT
IN SCOTLAND,
AIR SECRETARY INVESTIGATING
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, October 4.
The Secretary for Air, Sir Kingsley Wood, in the House of Commons, asked for an explanation of the Ballochantie incident, said no Royal Air Force or enemy aircraft were operating thereabouts. The fleet air arm might have been involved. He was investigating the matter.
A cablegram from London cn September 27 stated that a spray of ma-chine-gun bullets fell in the hamlet of Ballochantie, Argyllshire. A window of an hotel was broken and an aeroplane was heard, but though the sky was clear, no one saw any machine. Fifteen minutes later a plane was again hoard and there were further bursts of machine-gun fire and a number of nickel-casod bullets were picked up near the hotel, which was full of visitors. Many children were playing on the beach. No one was hurt. ,
