<» SUSPENSION OF RAILWAY ROAD SERVICES. PRIVATE OPERATORS TO CONTINUE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, October 4. All railway road services will be ' suspended next Monday, according to > a statement by the No 2 licensing authority, Mr P. Skoglund, at Stratford. Goods at present transported by road will be transferred to the railways. Private services operating in competition with the railways will be permitted to continue, but not to the detriment of the railways. This is a judicial decision by ivir Skoglund. On September 14 the Minister of Transport made a statement on the Government’s plan for organising road transport on a basis of maximum efficiency to serve the Dominion during the war period by bringing all forms of public motor transport under a uniform system of national control. The Minister said the most important step was the co-ordination of all forms of public motor passenger apd freight transport services.
