WEDDINGS

CARMAN-CAVERHILL. A quiet wedding was solemnised at Knox Church, Masterton, yesterday afternoon, when Miss Margaret Scott Caverhill, daughter of Mr C. ,R. Caverhill, of Paraparaumu, and the late Mrs Caverhill, was married to Mr Douglas Carman, son of Mr and Mrs E. I. Carman, “Willowbank,” Tinui. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Davie. < The bride was attired in a green costume with London, tan accessories and carried a cream, bouquet. The best man was 'Mr Harold Laing. A reception was held afterwards at the Midland Hotel, at which only relatives and close friends were present. Mr and Mrs. Carman later left for the South Island on their honeymoon. On their return they will take up their residence at Tinui.

During the past two or three weeks the bride, who is very popular with a wide circle of friends, was the guest of honour at a number of pre-wed-ding gatherings. THORNTON—HANCOX. (“Times-Age” Special.) The m'arriage was celebrated recently at All Saints’ Church, Tapanui, Otago, of Lucy, elder daughter of Mrs W. T. Hancox and the late Mr Hancox, of “Dalvey,” Tapanui, and Frank Charles, youngest son of Mr T. M. Thornton and the late Mrs Thornton, of Carterton, and formerly of Napier. The ceremony was performed by Rev S. E. Wood and Miss Dale presided at the organ. The beautiful old stone country church was decorated with spring blossoms by girl friends in the district. The bride, who was escorted by her ■brother, Mr R. Hancox, wore a lovely close-fitting gown of deep cream lace ovei’ satin with heart-shaped neckline, the skirt falling in soft folds to form a short train. Her tulle veil was held by a wreath of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of cream rose buds. Miss Zillah Hancox, who attended her sister, wore a frock of pale willow green lace cut on classical lines. She carried a bouquet of imperial yellow narcissi and on her dark hair wore a circlet of golden flower buds. The best man was Mr Robert Nichol-1 son, of Wellington. A reception was held at the- Masonic Hall. Tapanui, where Mrs Hancox received the guests wearing a navy crepf' ensemble with a shoulder sm’ay of crimson anemones and navy and white hat. The bride travelled in a m n rld frnnV of fu'chia and green crone de chine over which was worn an almond green swagger coat. Her hat was smoke grey with accessories to tone. Mr and Mrs Thornton will make their future home in Masterton.
