Miss Tui Anderson, Carterton, is visiting Marton, where she is the guest of Miss Jocelyn Openshaw. Mr and Mrs C. J. Carmont, of Foxton, are on a visit to Masterton, and are staying at the Prince of Wales Hotel.

A guest at the Carman-Caverhill wedding at Masterton yesterday was Mrs J. McKenzie, of 'Wellington, who is staying at the Midland Hotel.

Mrs E. E. Messenger, Karaka Bay, Wellington, and formerly of Masterton, is visiting her daughter-in-law, Mrs Messenger, Solway.

Mr and Mrs Lodder, of Petone, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. G. Woodhouse, Worksop Road, Masterton. They were guests at the Carman-Cav-erhill wedding at Masterton. The Rev. W. J. Couling, Mrs Couling and family, who arrived at Carterton from Geraldine on Tuesday, have taken up their residence at the Manse, Carterton.

Mr and Mrs Hugh McLaren, of Paraparaumu, who were guests at the Car-man-Caverhill wedding yesterday afternoon, are . staying with Mrs W. Cooper, Masterton. Miss Margaret Southey, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Southey, Eketahuna, is making a good recovery in the Tararua Private Hospital after having undergone an operation for appendicitis. Mr and Mrs C. R. Caverhill, of Wellington, were the guests of Mi’ and Mrs T. V. Caverhill, Worksop Road, Masterton, for the Carman-Caverhill wedding. Miss Nova Pilbeam, the former child film “star,” who is now 19 years of age, has become engaged to marry Britain’s youngest film director, the 27-year-old Penrose Tennyson, a greatgrandson of the poet, Lord Tennyson. The resignation of Mrs H. Langford, who has removed to Cross Creek, and who has been lady champion for the two seasons since the club’s inception, was received with regret at the annual meeting of the Hokowhitu Ladies’ Bowling Club. Miss Noeline Thomson, physical culture instructress attached to the Physical Welfare Brench, is the guest of Mrs Alan Graham, Essex Street, Masterton. Miss Thomson is to take part in the Recreation Week display on Saturday afternoon.
