LADIES’, GOLF LAST COMPETITION OF SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following is the last draw for the present season for a stableford and bogey round and for Mr C. K. Goodin’s trophy, the competition to be played on the Taratahi Links on Saturday:

Campbell and Miss Freer; Miss Armstrong and Mrs R. N. Campbell; Mrs Gustofson and Miss 'Lane; Miss Peters and Miss V. Corlett; Mrs Goodin and Mrs Bond. Miss Lamb and Miss Knutson will be in charge of afternoon tea. ENJOYABLE GATHERING IN ST MARY’S HALL. An enjoyable time was spent in St Mary’s Hall when the first of a series of dances organised by the Children of Mary Sodality was held. The music for dancing was supplied by Miss Mary Herrick, and extras were played by Miss L. Hopkins. At an appropriate interval Rev Father Connor, took the opportunity of farewelling Miss Aileen Williams, a member of the Children of Mary, who is leaving the district. He eulogistically referred to the many capabilities of Miss Williams, and to the help she had always given the Society. In token of their esteem, Father Connor made Miss Williams a presentation, and wished her every success and -happiness in her new sphere of life. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss Copeland and partner, and the Lucky ’Spot waltz was won by Miss K. Thompson and Mr Mark Meyer. Two songs “Little Drummer Boy” and “Dutch Kindergarten,” were pleasingly rendered by Miss K. McKenna, accompanied by Miss Berrill. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr Mac. Waterson. GOLF DRAW , , MEN’S CLUB. . Lawrence; Shankland and Harrington; Kiddie and Polson. No. 17 tee: Jackson and Aplin; Barr and Tankersley; Harry a bye. BABY CARNIVAL TO CLOSE TOMORROW. Considerable rivalry is manifest in the Baby Carnival which will be brought to a conclusion tomorrow evening at the King’s Theatre, Carterton. All committees are working hard to secure the success of their respective candidates. Before the closing of the voting at 9 o’clock excitement will have reached a. high pitch and during the last hour especially many thousands of penny votes will doubtless be recorded. Those present should have plenty of enjoyment and excitement. Beside the competitions already advertised a waltzing competition will be held in the hall on Friday night, an ankle competition, while the Belve-dere-Taratahi committee will conduct a sponge sandwich competition. There will be no entry fee but the sponges will become the property of the stall. A good prize for the best sponge will be given. The votes in the baby competition to date are: — John Corbett (Belvedere-Taratahi), 13,054. Dermot Fitzgerald (Dalefield), 12,971. Dorothy Rayner (Parkvale), 12.420. CARD TOURNEY AND DANCE. There was a large attendance at the card tournament and dance held in the Band Room last evening in aid of the candidature of the Dalefield baby in the W.D.F.U. Rest Room Carnival. The prizes were won as follow:-—Special, Mrs J. Steffert; ladies, Mrs Hopkins, 1; Mrs R. Williams, 2: Mrs Herdman. 3: consolation. Mrs Williams Senr. Men: Mr P. Hodder, 1; Mrs M, Ticehurst, 2; A. Knutson. 3; consolation. Mi’ T. O'Connor. Personal. The Rev A. A. Anderson, Moderator of the Wairarapa Presbytery, will conduct the Induction of the Rev W. J. Couling, at St Andrew's Church tonight. Master Ted Hurndell, son of Mr and Mrs L. W. Hurndell, underwent on operation at the Masterton Hospital yesterday for appendicitis. His condition is satisfactory.
