At the Otaki-Maori meeting the feature was the sensational win scored by Hunting Cat in the Ling Memorial Stakes and his supporters on the win machine received a dividend of over two score. Gay Chou and White Rajah, the two Masterton horses, scored good wins. At the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s meeting the principal winner was Hot Box, who started sixth and seventh favourite in the Poland Cup to win the event by a neck.
