Mrs D. Ogilvy, of Wellington, was a recent visitor to Masterton. Miss Norma Miller, of “Helmieh,;’ Ohingaiti, who has been on a visit to Masterton, has returned home. Miss Joan Stevens, of Pahiatua, has joined the nursing staff at the Bowen Street Hospital, Wellington. The death occurred at Eketahima yesterday of Mrs Myrtle Dillon, wife of Mr Charles John Dillon, at the age of 42 years. $ Mrs W. S. Dickens, of Pownall Street, Masterton, who has been visiting North Auckland for the past three months, has returned home. Brigadier Smyth, a former Wellington officer of the Salvation Army, is visiting Wellington. She recenty retired after serving for 33 years in Japan, but, by special request of the international headquarters, is to serve a further term in Japan. In view of her approaching marriage Miss Whyte received from her col-; leagues at the Central School a present as a token of the esteem in which she was held. Mr E. G. Coddington, on behalf of himself and his staff, wished Miss Whyte a happy future and expressed from all the regret felt that she was giving up her duties at the school. Miss Whyte suitably replied.
