RECREATION WEEK.
GAMES AT LANSDOWNE.
In connection with “Recreation Week” the Wairarapa Hockey Associations staged a series of games on the Lansdowne grounds on Saturday afternoon. The Municipal Band was in attendance and a splendid afternoon’s sport was provided. Play commenced at 1.30 p.m. with the junior teams followed bj 7 senior games at 2.45 p,m, The resuts of the various games played were as follows: — Senior Men. South beat North 9/5. Junior Men. North beat South 3/0. Senior Women. Kiwj-Excelsipr beat College 1/0. Junior Women. A team beat B team 3/0, INTER-CLUB GAMES. i COLLEGE OLD GIRLS v KIA ORA. The annual gaoees between the Wellington College Old Girls and Kia Ora clubs were played at Lansdowne on Saturday.
Wellington won both senior and junior games and retain the Kia Ora Cup for another season. The junior game was very evenly contested and' resulted in a win for Wellington by 3/2. The senior game produced some good fast hockey. Kia Ora put up a good showing but the visitors were superior in all departments and ran out winners by 7/1. The visitors were the guests of the Kia Ora Club over the weekend. They were entertained at tea in the Kia Ora rooms after the games when Mr G. Allan, patron of the club, presented the cup to Mrs Lamason, captain of the visiting team. In the evening the members were guests at the pictures and on Sunday morning were taken for a trip to Mt Bruce.
