ENGINEDRIVER SENT TO GAOL

AUCKLAND, September 29

Ten days’ gaol with hard labour and disqualification from driving for two years was the sentence passed on Thomas Majurey. aged 40. enginel- - for intoxication in charge of a car on Saturday last. He pleaded guilty. Defending counsel asked that he be not sent to gaol as he was working a road excavator at the Papakura Military camp.

The magistrate said he could not believe that there was such a dearth of drivers for such machines.
