BRITISH MINES
EFFICIENCY DEMONSTRATED
REPORTS OF NAVAL BATTLES. DUE TO EXPLOSION OF GERMAN MINES. By Telegraph l —Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, September 25. The effectiveness of British minelaying was demonstrated recently when an unnamed British ship, disobeying Admiralty instructions regarding the only safe passage through Dover Straits, struck a British mine and was blown up. Frequent reports of explosions on the Scandinavian coasts probably relate to German mines which blow up when they break loose from their moorings. It is significant that most reports relate to the explosions occurring during rough weather. Rumours so far of great North Sea battles may bo taken as “absolute nonsense.”
