FEILDING SALE. PRICES FIRM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, September 29. Another particularly good sale took place in Feilding today, the demand being firm for all stock except ewe mutton, which was backward in price. Fat sheep: Ewes declined substantially in value, notwithstanding ‘ the fact that some prime lots were offered. Wethers and hoggets made up to late rates. Prime hoggets made 28s to 29s 6d, medium 20s 8d to 22s 6d; light 18s to 19s 6d; extra prime wethers 28s 6d to 32s 6d; prime 26s 6d to 28s, lighter and shorn 16s lOd to 18s 7d; extra prime ewes 22s 9d to 24s 7d. second grade 20s to 22s 6d, light 13s Id to 19s. Store sheep: A small entry was forward, the majority being hoggets which sold on a firm market. Best hoggets made 29s 6d to 30s, second quality 23s 8d to 26s 2d, small 15s 9d to 21s 3d; good wether hoggets, 18s Id to 20s 9d, others 13s 4d to 15s lOd; b.f. hoggets 15s 7d; mixed sex b.f’s 18s 3d; forward ewes 10s 4d to Ils 4d; ewes and lambs 10s 9d. Store cattle: Prices fully firm on last week’s ruled for station cattle, of which there was a substantial entry. Two-year Hereford steers, best, made £6 10s to £6 14s, small £5 4s, twoyear A.A. steers, good, £6 to £7 2s 6d, others £4 12s to £5 12s 6d; Shorthorn steers £5 Is to £5 10s; yearling A.A. heifers £2 12s to £3 10s; yearling Hereford steers, good £4 2s, small £2 18s to £3 2s 6d; yearling A.A. steers, best, £4 to £4 12s, backward £2; Jersey steers £2 to £3 10s; Hereford cows £3; three-year mixed steers £7 17s 6d; A.A. and Hereford-cross threeyear steers £6 5s to £7; good threeyear A.A. steers £7 13s; Hereford steers £8 13s; crossbred steers £8 14s; yearling Jersey heifers £1 10s to £2 10s; empty heifers £2 15s; boner cows, heavy £3 to £3 10s, others £2 to £2 15s. Fat cattle: A keen sale took place for beef, a short yarding accentuating the demand. Prices advanced on those of last Week. Prime A.A. heifers made £9 to £lO 15s .lighter £7 10s; prime A.A. cows £9 5s to £lO 15s; second grade £6 15s to £8 12s 6d; ex dairy cows £4 5s to £6 10s; prime ox £l2 10s to £l3 10s. Dairy cattle: The inquiry for dairy cattle showed a falling off, prices easing considerably. Best springing heifers made £9 10s to £ll, later calvers £6 15s to £8 15s, backward £4 10s to £6 10s: extra good springing cows, £l3, good £6 to £B, late calvers £3 17s 6d to £5 15s. Pigs: A smaller entry brought good returns, prices being a shade up on last week’s. Good weaners made 17s to 21s; slips 245; small porkers 325.
