HARRIER ACTIVITIES

MASTERTON CLUB. CLOSING RUNS OF SEASON. The Masterton Harrier Club will hold its official closing run,on Saturday afternoon when a 5-mile open handicap race run in conjunction with the Cameron Cup points final race, will be held. The juniors will hold a race over one lap of the senior course for the final race of the Bell Trophy. Particularly interesting races should result, and they come at an opportune time—the commencement of the Recreation Week programme. The trial will probably be two laps of the championship course, which finishes down the Te Ore Ore Road, past the hockej r grounds, and around the Park Oval. Handicaps have been declared as follows: — W. Pullar scr; G. Gregory 1.30; R. Shaw 2.30; R. Wyeth 3.30; G. Feedericksen 4.0; H. Carle 3.0; M. Sellar 3.0; G. Wicken 4.30; I. Shaw 4.30; J. Haise 5.0: C. K. Long 4.30; A. Andrew 4.30; C. Orr 5.30; C. Carle 5.30; R. Gully 7.0: R. Bell 7.0; J. Baikie 9.0. COMBINED DANCE. The Harrier season in the Wairarapa will be officially closed tomorrow when the Masterton and Kiatere Harrier clubs will hold a combined dance in the Masonic Hall. The music will be supplied by the Blue River Dance Band, and with Mr J. J. Hunter ,as M.C. the proceedings will be kept going with a swing. Trophies won during the season will be presented. KIATERE CLUB. HANDICAPS FOR SATURDAY. The official closing function of the Kiatere Club will take place at the Epiphany Hall on Saturday. At the conclusion of the final run which is to start at 2.30 p.m., afternoon tea will be served and the trophies and cups won during the season will be presented. In the evening a dance will be held in the Masonic Hall, in conjunction with members of the Masterton Harrier Club. The following handicaps have been declared for the senior 5-mile open handicap event: —R. Greeks, W. Burgess, scr.; W. McDonald, 25secs.; W. Burns, 50secs.; J. Laing. Imin. lOsecs.; A. McDonald, 1.40; A. Adderson, 2.30: C. Frances. R. Searancke. 2.40: H. Stcwirt D. Nelson, 3.45.

Junior members will race over a 21mile trail of one lap and the following are their handicaps:—H. Doyle, scr.; N. Jacobsen, ssecs.; F. Sexton, 30 secs.; C. Stewart, C. Summers, Imin.; S. Pickett. 2mins.; N. Dickel, 3mins.; J. Hodgetts, G. Laing, 4mimi.
