WEDDING

SHIRLEY—PARKINSON.

("Times-Age” Special.)

The Anglican Church, Whakatane, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Saturday, September 16, when Stephanie Cora, third daughter of Mrs Parkinson and the late Mr A. Parkinson, of Whakatane, was married to Alfred William (“Bill”), only son of Mr and Mrs W. Shirley, of Lincoln Road, Carterton. The Rev S. G. Caulton officiated and Mrs A. Bridger played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr B. Mends, wore a I charming gown of ivory French ottoman crepe cut on simple lines with full length sleeves finished to a point over the hand. The skirt fell to form a circular train caught on either sjde with a sprig of orange blossom. Small buttons ornamented the bodice and a Medici collar with a pearl necklace finished the neckline. Her long tulle veil, which was worn over the face, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of white camelias, hyacinths and lily of the valley. The attendants, Miss Ella Parkinson, sister of the bride, and Miss Catherine Anderson (Opotiki), cousin of the bride, were frocked alike in jewel blue self-striped marquisette with headdresses of pink and blue flowers and blue circular veils. They carried bouquets in tones of pink and blue. The bridegroom was attended by Mr A. R. Steffert, late of Carterton, as best man and Mr E. Bullot as groomsman. At the reception held later the guests were received by Mrs Parkinson, mother of the bride, who wore a frock of blue cloque, relieved with pink, - with hat to tone, and carried a posy of * pink sweet peas, freezias and blue hyacinths, and by Mrs Mends, sister of the bride, who was attired in a grey tailored costume with navy accessories. Mrs - Shirley, of Carterton, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy blue' ensemble and carried a posy of daphne, hyacinths and stocks. The guests subsequently adjourned to the home of the bride’s mother to view the many beautiful gifts. When Mr and Mrs Shirley left on their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a dark grey pin stripe tailored costume with navy accessories and fur stole.
