THOUGH the international situation seems ever to become more • complicated, our duty as New Zealanders is clear'. What part troops from here may take in the war depends upon decisions by. the Governments concerned. But the part that individuals can play rightnow is a matter for themselves, as individuals, to decide. Following a similar appeal by Masterton retailers last week, we in business in the South Wairarapa now appeal to all people in this district to help maintain business at a normal and sane level. We ask that there be no signs of panic—in an economic sense. Business must go on as usual if the economic life of New Zealand is not to be endangered. But that is in your hands—you are the ultimate consumers of the goods and services we sell. On your purchasing power, we, and tne staffs we employ, stand or fall. Actually you DO possess the pui chasing power, despite the added calls of war-time taxation. We ask you to exercise that power! Do not panic! Do not deliberately restrict your buying because of the war! If you do, you will suffer in the end. You will add unemployment to the nation's difficulties. We appeal to you not to let that happen. Just carry on, remembering the old, old sIogan—"BUSINESS AS USUAL"
