CANTERBURY MARKETS
BUSINESS IN POTATOES DULL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 22. Business in the local potato market is still very dull, and the quotation of £l3 to farmers is only nominal. It appears that there are still a number of small odd lots held in the country and, in the present state of the market, these are proving difficult to quit. The Government has notified merchants that it requires a monthly return to be made of stocks of seeds held in stores, and it is understood that in the meantime the export of all but three lines has been prohibited. The three lines excepted are stated to be fescue, browntop and suckling clover.
