ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

PASTORAL FESTIVITIES. ENJOYABLE SOCIAL LAST NIGHT. As part of the Pastoral festivities of St Matthew’s Church a most enjoyable social was held in the Parish Hall last evening. There was a large number of parishioners present, and one and all spent an enjoyable time. The arrangements were in the hands of the choir and a first-class programme was provided. Those who contributed items were:—Pianoforte Duet. Mr and Mrs Miller Hope; violin solo, Mr S. Taylor; elocutionary items, Miss Betty Coleman; v.ocal solos, Messrs L. D. Wales, V. Greer, C. A. Clement; vocal duets, Mr and Mrs N. Ninnes, Mrs Moss and Miss Rose Robinson; vocal trio, Mesdames Burton and Burke and Miss Grace Gaudin. Mr Miller Hope was, as usual, an excellent accompanist for the various items.

Dancing and competitions interspersed the items and supper was served by the ladies. In the absence of the Vicar (the Rev E. J. Rich), the Rev T. V. Pearson extended a welcome to all those present and expressed the thanks of the parishioners to the choir and those who contributed to such a happy gathering
