MEMORIAL PARK CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Memorial Park Lawn Tennis Club, which will be presented to the annual meeting to be held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Tuesday evening next, states inter alia: —The season was one of the most successful experienced by the club since its inception, and it is most gratifying to record a further increase in membership, there being 154 active members as compared with 134 the previous season. Even with this increase the club’s ten courts amply provided for all players. The financial statement, shows the club’s finances to be in a healthy condition. During the off season, the committee carried out extra topdressing, and next season the courts should provide an even better playing surface. Around the eastern and southern sides of the courts a shelter belt has been planted, the benefit of which will be appreciated by members in the future. Our groundsman. MiBishop, had the courts in first-class order throughout the season, and we take this opportunity of thanking him for the loyal service he rendered the club throughout the year. Teams were again entered in the A, B, and C grades of the Wairarapa Association’s competitions. The C team has to be congratulated on winning its competition, going right through undefeated. Home, and away matches were played with Lyall Bay, and a team from Tinui visited us. Our thanks are extended to the Lyall Bay team for the hospitality shown to our team when they visited Wellington. The club competitions were well supported, many interesting games, resulting. During the year we lost the services of our hon. treasurer, Mr T. Jack, through his being transferred to Whangarei. The position was taken over* pro tern by Mr D. A. Hunn. Our thanks are again due to the president and vice-president for- the continuance of their support and assistance. We also wish to thank Mr D. B. Curry for his services as hon. auditor, and the “Wairarapa Times-Age” Co.. Ltd., for publicity given to the club’s news and events. The report is signed by Mr J. Jameson (president) and Mr D. Costello (secretary) .
