ANOTHER WIN FOR LOUIS

PASTOR KNOCKED OUT. HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK, September 20. In a world heavyweight boxing championship bout at Detroit, Joe Louis knocked out Bob Pastor in the eleventh round. Louis floored Pastor four times in the first round and once in the second. The game New Yorker not only remained on his feet in the third round but won the fourth with a jabbing attack with a series of rights that shook the negro and reddened his face. The men fought on even terms in the fifth round.

A stunning right on which the champion concentrated had Pastor groggy in the sixth round, but he managed to keep on his feet. Pastor lost the seventh round after a succession of rights, which opened a gash over the left eye. He made a magnificent stand in the eighth round, when he swarmed over Louis and belted him groggy on the ropes with a barrage of lefts and rights to his swollen face. He tried to finish the champion in the ninth, but Louis rallied and fought on even terms.

A short right across to the chin in the tenth round nearly knocked Pastor over the ropes. This blow won the fight. Though Pastor did not drop, all the spring went from his legs and the fire from his eyes. Another right to the jaw in the eleventh sent him on his hands and knees, where he took the count, blood pouring from his mouth, nose, and left eye.

He made one of the gamest stands ever witnessed. Conceding 171 b, he lasted 10 rounds, 38 minutes, and seriously threatened the champion in the eighth round. The attendance was 40,000 and the gate takings were £90,000.
