NORTH CHINA TROUPE
♦ REGENT THEATPiE ON MONDAY. Considerable local interest has been aroused in the forthcoming appearance of the world-famous North China trops, who play at the Regent Theatre for one night only on Monday next, September 25. Lau Fu Chung, who presents this unique entertainment, is an outstanding entertainer, and his quaint style has a universal appeal. For an hour and a half the show moves at lightning speed, in which sensation follows sensation with almost unbelievable feats of acrobatics, dancing, gymnastics. One of the features of the programme is the performance of Mdlle Wang Tsun, who while suspended in mid air by her own hair goes through a series of contortions. Then there is Herbert Young, the nine-year-old Chinese Bobby Breen, who sings soprano songs in perfect English a language he acquired when five years old. The first half of the programme is devoted to six European vaudeville acts and include such well known London performances as “Three Camerons” from Alhambra, Glasgow. Their presentation consists of piano and two piano accordeons, and are also famous for their delightful yodelling. Box plans are now open at Nimmo’s.
