RECREATION WEEK
ACTIVITIES IN MASTERTON. VISIT OF ORGANISER. Mr S. McNicol, the organiser of the physical welfare and recreation branch of Internal Affairs Department, who is visiting Masterton. stated today to a “Times-Age” representative that the purpose of his visit was to make arrangements for the Recreation Week in Masterton. commencing on September 30. Among other matters Mr McNicol is arranging a Rugby football match between the newly-formed Centurians Club (Wellington) and a Wairarapa team, to take place at Masterton on October 7. Arrangements are also being made for a visit to Pahiatua of two teams of Masterton baseball players during Recreation Week to give a demonstration of the American national game. Mr McNicol stated that he was pleased with the support which was being given to the Recreation Week project which he was sure would be the success it deserved to be. The objects of Recreation Week should appeal to all those who were interested in the physical development of the young people of New Zealand, especially at the present time, and doubtless much good would come out of it. Local committees were engaged in carrying out various sections of the scheme and were equally determined to make it a success. INTER-HOUSE GIRLS’ TEAMS.
