SEPTEMBER 30—October 3: “Midnight,” featuring Claudette Colbert. Don Ameche, Francis Lederer, John Barrymore, Mary Astor, Elaine Barrie and Hedda Hopper. The shorts programme includes: “Paramount Pictorial,” “Unfinisned Symphony” (Schubert’s beautiful melody brought to the screen and played by the orchestra that played Tanhausser), and Overseas Newsreels. STATE.TOMORROW, Saturday, Monday, September 22—25: Gay with gusty comedy of the sparkling kind is “Wife, Husband and Friend,” rated as one of the best comedies of the season and features such gay personalities as Warner Baxter, Loretta Young, Binnie Barnes, Cesar. Romero and George Barbier. (Recommended by the Censor for Adults). . TUESDAY, Wednesday, Thursday, September 26—28: A new standard of exhilirating entertainment is provided in the double feature programme, “Crackerjack,” a comedy mystery thriller which stars Tom Walls. The second film, “Mr Moto of Danger Island,” with Peter Lorre is the latest of the Mr Moto series, “Crackerjack Mr Moto.” (Approved for Universal Exhibition). (Recommended by the Censor for. Adults). FRIDAY, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, September 29—October 3: Feelingly, tensely and coherently told, the translation of Emily Bronte’s novel, “Wuthering Heights,” is a picture
that will be remembered as an outstanding triumph. Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier, David Niven and Donald Crisp fill the stellar roles. (Approved for Universal Exhibition). COSY.
