Significant of the confidence in Shirley Temple’s importance is the fact that Darryl Zanuck has invested a fortune in creating “The Little Princess.” First he purchased the rights to Frances Hodgson Burnet’s famous book; then the biggest budget ever given a Temple production was allocated; a cast of marquee names engaged; 35 of the most elaborate ■ sets designed for any picture were constructed; and the Technicolour cameras set in motion.
