EX=BOXING CHAMPION
f FEATURED IN FILMS. Maxie Rosenbloom, ex-light-heavy-weight boxing champion of the world who visited Australia several years ago, will be featured in a series of pictures by Warners. These will be based on stories specially selected to exploit Rosenbloom’s comedy talents. His first is “Slapsie Maxie’s,” named after the fighter-film star and the night club he operates in Hollywood. SWING TO FAME BRITISH BLONDE BEAUTY. Among the younger group of Britain’s film stars you will find the name of Evelyn Ankers, who is in “Second Thoughts.” Few people know that “Britain’s loveliest girl” was born in the wilds of Chile, where her father, an English engineer was speculating in South America. Few people know, too, that until she was 10 years old Evelyn regarded Spanish as her mother tongue. Promise of stardom was brought to this 25-year-old blonde beauty on’ a plate borne by a waiter at a fashionable London hotel. On the plate was a note from one of Alexander Korda’s talent scouts, who was so' impressed by her striking beauty that he suggested she should make a screen test at the Denham studios. It was not her beauty but her talent that got her past the test, for beauty is but one qualification for film fame. That test started her on the road to success, and in the short space of two years she has made 10 films, starring in five, and appeared in two plays.
