Artificial birds’ nests are being built on the wide and treeless plain of Hortobagy, Hungary, to induce swallows and other birds to settle there. The plain is the pasture of the best Hungarian cattle. The beasts have been suffering severely from flies and mosquitos as there were no birds to eat them. Towers, furnished with attractive nests, are now being built.
