INDOOR BASKETBALL
KNOCK OUT COMPETITION. MASTERTON TEAMS TO MEET HUTT. The matches in connection with the indoor basketball competitions were played in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium las: evening. There was a large gallery of spectators to witness these games. The first match was between Woolworths and W.F.C.A. This game was rather slower than usual as both teams were over keen and played more of a defensive game. The teams were. Woolworths: Misses A. Burgess, R. Harding, K. Kilnjinster, P. Hanley, M. Kilminster. W.F.C.A.: Misses M. Gadsby, E. Angove, J. Palmer, C. Wright. A.’ Keisenberg. The final score was Woolworths 6, W.F.C.A. 4. The other match was between Y.M.C.A. (D. Costello, D. Leete, J. Broome, R. Riley) and Reliance (F. Bodie, R. Barnes, D. O'Connor, B. Bodie, W. Reynolds). This game proved most exciting. The Y.M.C.A., playing a man short, continued well and their experience soon’ told on the fas; Reliance team which played its usua. bustling type of game. The game ended 14 to 8 in favour of Y.M.C.A. During the weekend two teams oi basketball players from Hutt Valley will pay a visit Masterton. The games will be played in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium on Saturday evening com • mencing at 7.30 o’clock. Elders Lynn and Handy, who controlled the matches in the finals of the knock-out competition last evening have selected the following players to represent Masterton:—Ladies: J Gemmell P. Kilminster, B. Stitt, A. Burgess,’ M. Gadsby. Reserves: O. Lysaght R Eastwood, M. Eastwood. Men. Reynolds, D. Leete, S. Faulknor, W. Wickens, D. Costello. Reserves: Yee Jing, J. Broom, R. Riley, F. Bodie. Anyone unable to play should notify D. Costello as early as possible.
