HOSPITAL AFFAIRS

MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD. EMERGENCY COMMITTEE APPOINTED. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board was held at Masterton today. Those present were Messrs H. H. Mawley (chairman) W. I. Armstrong. N. T. B. W. Beetham. F. S. H. Bolton, W. Britland. A. Clark. F. Court. A. Forsberg, W. B. Martin D. McGregor, J. A. McLeod,' C. J. Richardson. Thomas. J. F. Thompson, Miss Card, Mrs S. Fletcher, Miss C. McKenny and Mrs J. Robertson. The following emergency committee was elected to deal with any matters concerning the hospitals which might arise in connection with the present war in Europe:—Messrs H. H. Mawley, 1 N. T. B. W. Beetham. C. .T. Richardson and P. R Welch. A resolution was moved by Mrs Fletcher to the effect that employees of the board who had offered their services to the government in connection with the present international situation should be informed that their positions would be available to them when they returned providing they were in a fit state to carry out their duties. The motion was seconded by Mr Thompson and carried. The managing-secretary (Mr Lee) informed the board that already nine members of the staff had volunteered. The Department of Health notified that in view of the present international position economy should be exercised in the use of all hospital supplies. The letter was received and the staff is to be informed accordingly. On the rccommedation of the Finance and Social Welfare Committee it was decided to purchase two motor lawn mowers, one for the Pahiatua and the other for the Greytown hospital. The managing-secretary’s action in obtaining X-ißiay equipment costing £132 15s Id was confirmed.

It was decided to purchase a truck valued at £35 for use in the grounds of the Masterton Hospital.
