AVONDALE RACES
GUINEAS WON BY BEAULIVRE. PLUMPTON TO SLY FOX. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 18. Good dividends were a feature of the concluding day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting today, Payette returning more than half a century, and Foxtoon more than a score. Bronze Moth and Prince Acre (for a place) also returned double figures. Beaulivre was at very cramped odds on the win machine when he won the Guineas, and he paid more for a place. The place favourite. Our Jean, returned less than money back. The weather was brilliantly fine, and the course was easy, though much faster than on Saturday. The totalisator handled £37,226, compared with £25,870 10s on the second day last year. The investments for the two days were £86,801 10s, against £62,910 last year, an increase of £23,791 10s.
