M. Wright, of Church Street, Masterton, will leave tonight for Auckland where she will spend a holiday. Mrs A. W. McKenzie, of Renall Street. Masterton. has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs W. H. Saunders, of Essex Street, Masterton. is the guest of her mother, Mrs A. Hornblow, Wellington. Lady le Fleming (Rosemary Rees, the well-known New Zealand novelist) has arrived at Wellington from Sydney. Miss Williams, of the Wellington Education Department, Wellington, is on a visit to Masterton, and is staying at the Empire Hotel. A London cable slates that the death has occurred of the novelist, Ethel M. Dell. One of the best-known writers of modern romantic novels. Ethel M. Dell gained immediate popularity with her first book, “The Way of an Eagle,” published in 1912. A prolific writer, she had more than 30 books published during the ensuing years. Among the best known of them are “The Rocks of Valpre,” “The Keeper of the Door,” “The Hundredth Chance,” “The Lamp in the Desert," “The Obstacle Race,” “A Man Under Authority,” and “Where Three Roads Meet.” She married in 1922 Lieut.-Colonel G. T. Savage, D. 5.0., R.A.S.C.
