ODD FELLOWS’ LODGE FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows’ was held last evening, P.G. Bro C. E. White, N.G., presiding. Sick Pay amounting to £lB was passed for payment. Two members declared off the lodge sick pay fund, two declared on the fund, and two forwarded progress reports. Notice was received that the Lodge officers would be examined in ritual on Monday, October 16 at 8 p.m. It was decided that the officers meet for practice once each week to bring about proficiency in their work. Reports in regard to sick members were presented, showing satisfactory improvement in most cases. The secretary of the Wellington District Manchester Unity Odd Fellows wrote regarding the special general meeting of the Association held on September 2 when it was decided that th” Association should be continued and that the benefits payable would be as .follows: —“A cash payment to members when the member or his or her dependents, as defined by the Rules, is in hospital (public, or private). The amount payable will be 6s per day for adults and 3s per day for children under the age of 16 years. The maximum amount payable to a member in any one year will be £3O. It should be noted that benefits will be payable in accordance with the rules and members are urged to note particularly Rule 29 subsections (2) and (3). Contributions will be the same as in the past, i.e., 3s 6d per quarter and members should note that under Rule 40 they may be refused payment of benefits if contributions have not been paid.” LADIES’ GOLF CLUB JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The semi-final of the junior championship was played on the Taratahi links when Miss M. Campbell defeated Mrs Forbes, and Mrs Murray defeated Miss M. Smart. The final will be played between Miss Campbell and Mrs Murray at the first available opportunity. The best cards in connection with a medal round game were: Miss Freer 102, 36 —66; Mrs Harrington 99. 24 —75; Mrs M. Campbell 106, 30 —76; Mrs W. Moroney 97, 13—76; Miss G. Knutson 105. 24—81. The final for the senior championship has not yet been played owing to indisposition of one of the contestants.! BOWLING CLUB SPECIAL ATTENTION TO GREEN. In preparation for the coming season the Carterton bowling green has been top-dressed, and with a shower of rain will be much benefited. The green this year has received special attention, and when' the season opens in October, should be in good order. Personal. . Mr J. P. Johnston, who recently disposed of his home in North High Street, Carterton, has taken up his residence in Masterton. .On Page 1 a youth for work in a cheese factory is advertised for.
