RECREATION WEEK

MASTERTON PROGRAMME. RUGBY AND OTHER GAMES. Representatives of the numerous sporting, recreational and cultural organisations in the Masterton. Mauriceville and Castlepoint Physical Welfare and Recreation District Committee’sterritory met in the Municipal Building, Masterton, last night, to complete the programme for Recreation Week, which commences on September 29 and concludes on October 7. The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, presided. After considerable discussion the following programme was approved:— Hockey matches, Lansdowne, Saturday, September 30. Display by Inter-house girls and Wairarapa College. Rugby match between ex-Wairarapa representative players and Wellington team, Saturday, October 7. Both these events will take place at Memorial Park. Amateur Operatic Society, two-night entertainment. Dates to be arranged. Little Theatre Society, one night entertainment. Date to be arranged. Orchestral concert, one night. Date to be arranged. Basketball to be played in the Municipal Hall. Four games. Date to be arranged. In this event two teams will be supplied by Wairarapa College and two by the Y.M.C.A. The following-committee was elected to arrange the various dates and to deal with any matters which might arise: Messrs T. Jordan, J. C. D. Mackley, G. T. O’Hara Smith, F. Henson and D. McKee Wright. '
